"Foundations -> Metallurgy -> Mechanical crafts -> Precision -> Industry -> Electricity -> Electronics -> Computing. Metallurgy requires the community to complete 8 planks, 6 bricks, 8 charcoal and 4 iron; it enables the forge, iron tools and structural upgrades. Mechanical crafts then requires completed community production at quality 2 or better: 8 steel, 4 gears, 2 shafts and 4 bearings. Smelt steel from 2 iron and 2 charcoal; forge each gear or shaft from 2 steel; build a basic machine workshop from 16 planks, 12 bricks, 8 steel, 4 gears and 2 shafts; then make bearings there from 1 steel and 1 gear. The basic workshop is quality 1, while earned bearing workmanship and quality-2 inputs permit quality-2 bearings. A reinforced workshop adds normal station capacity and speed. Later epochs remain a development path; computers require successive physical production chains rather than one direct recipe. Water and wind power are not implemented. Precision tooling requires Mechanical crafts, then 2 machinists’ gauges and 8 standard parts completed at quality 3 or better. Gauges cost 2 steel and 1 plank at a machine workshop and retain 80 uses. A manual precision lathe costs 20 planks, 12 steel, 6 gears, 4 shafts and 4 bearings; its first build may be quality 1. Each standard part costs 1 steel at the lathe and wears a gauge of matching output quality once per unit. repair may set method fitted-parts for iron axes, iron picks, wheelbarrows, handcarts and buckets: standard parts replace only the iron share, wood or plank remains required, and work is 40% shorter. Default repairs are unchanged. Glassmaking unlocks after Precision with finite sand and limestone, plant ash, charcoal-fired glass and fitted shelter windows."
